ACE969 TP2 Complete Installation, Wiring and Commissioning Guide

Correct installation of the ACE969 TP2 (ACE969TP-2) is critical to the long-term reliable operation of the communication system. This guide is compiled from Schneider Electric's official Instruction Bulletin (63230-216-235A1) and covers hardware installation, terminal wiring, and system commissioning.

Before installation, verify that the Sepam protection relay model is compatible with the ACE969 TP2 (applicable to Sepam series 20, 40, 60, and 80) and prepare the required tools: screwdriver, wiring ferrules, and RS485 shielded twisted-pair cable.

Installation Steps
  • Disconnect the Sepam relay auxiliary power supply to ensure safe operation
  • Insert the ACE969 TP2 card into the communication card slot on the back of the Sepam relay
  • Tighten the fixing screws to ensure solid contact
  • Connect RS485 A (+) and B (−) terminals using shielded twisted-pair cable
  • Fit 120 Ω termination resistors at both ends of the bus
  • Ground the cable shield at the control panel side only; leave the relay side floating
  • Set the communication address using the rotary DIP switch
  • Power up the relay and confirm communication parameters on the Sepam front panel

"Proper RS485 wiring and correct termination resistor placement are the key factors ensuring reliable ACE969 TP2 communication."

After installation, the communication link can be verified using Schneider Electric's SFT2841 commissioning software. If the communication LED indicates an abnormal state, check bus wiring polarity, address settings, and baud rate configuration against the upstream SCADA system.
